Adjustability Everyone is physically different, so you want your chair to allow you as many adjustments as possible, for example for your height. Some swivel armchairs come with a foot pedal near the base, this raises or lowers the height of the chair and can easily be changed to suit different peoples needs. Other chairs have a dial instead; the problem with these is that they can easily become stiff or too loose when over used.
If you trawl through the enormous array of different styles that the various manufacturers, you may notice that most armchairs seem to lack in originality. The problem with many designers is they seem to forget people have to sit in the chairs and it is the act of sitting that inspires the design of the chair not the other way around. Furthermore, the armchair is designed to be sat in with comfort in mind: where backs, buttocks and arms should be supported ergonomically to take the pressure off the muscles across the shoulders and lower neck.
There is a danger that this chair might end up being used as an incredibly luxurious shoe fitting point, however.
